The Powerstax Unistax series of single and three phase modular power supplies offer unmatched ruggedness and are designed for use in the most stringent of industrial applications. Constant voltage or constant current operational modes are standard features with a variety of remote control functions being available.
The Unistax series of single and three phase power supplies offer output power up to 10kW and output voltages up to 200V. They are up to 90% efficient and are thermally protected. There are multiple mechanical options available including chassis and 19″ rack mount versions across the range.
The series meets safety standards EN60335-1:1994/A16:2001 and EMC standards (Conducted & Radiated), EN55011, level A, Immunity ESD, EN61000-4-2, Radiated RF, EN61000-4-3, Conducted RF, EN61000-4-6, Fast Transients, EN61000-4-4, Input Surges, EN61000-4-11.
Typical applications for the Unistax® series of single and three phase power supplies include automotive, water treatment, corrosion prevention and harsh industrial environments.

ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY ENGINE TESTING
We were approached by a diesel engine test facility installer to replace a battery stack used for starting the engines under test due to the weight, life cycle and environmental concerns. Previous attempts to use switched mode power supplies to replace the batteries had been hampered by the enormous amount of current draw together with voltage collapse during the cranking (starting) phase of the test, sometimes in excess of 1000A for the larger engines.
The Unistax range of 5kW & 10kW single and 3 phase input power supplies have an unusually robust feature where they can be modified to double the rated current which can be drawn for up to 20 seconds, provided the current drawn falls to the rated current or below after that period. So the customer was able to use a single unit for most engines and 2 units in parallel for the larger engines and now regularly orders Unistax units from Powerstax when they install a new test bay to their customers in the automotive sector.
