27 February 2019 by Press Officer

Phil James Powerstax, one of Europe’s leading value-added and industrial power solutions manufacturers has appointed Phil James as Sales Director.

“I’m really pleased that Phil has joined our team to head up the Sales organisation.” Comments Chief Executive Officer Tim Worley. “He brings a wealth of power sector experience and many industry contacts which will underpin the ambitious sales growth plans we have for Powerstax. Phil’s specific knowledge of the high voltage power sector will also allow us to broaden our product lines and reach and will result in an increased number of cross selling opportunities”.

Having served a classic M.O.D apprenticeship in Military Aircraft Avionics, Phil completed an HNC in Industrial Measurement and Control Systems and following three further years with the M.O.D, began his career in the Power Electronics industry eventually joining Glassman Europe Ltd in 1994. During more than 24 years’ service at Glassman Europe he progressed from Sales Engineer to European Sales Manager and finally to General Manager, gaining invaluable knowledge and experience in markets and applications for high voltage and programmable dc power supplies.

Phil comments, “Following the acquisition and subsequent changes to the Glassman business, I seized the opportunity to join Powerstax Ltd. as Sales Director. Having known its CEO Tim Worley for many years, I was convinced of the conviction, quality and drive of this principled Power Conversion company and its highly skilled and flexible workforce. I very much look forward to adding my own skills and more than 30 years of industry experience to help drive the company even further forward.

Powerstax designs and manufactures an extensive range of standard, value-added and custom AC and DC power solutions for a broad range of fixed and mobile applications including hot-swap front-end AC-DC bulk power, DC-DC converter bricks and modules and programmable, modular, rack mounted power supplies. Their Drake® range of transformer rectifiers offer output currents to 5,000A and output power up to 1000kVA and beyond. Power solutions are available for harsh (marine, offshore, desert) and hazardous (Zone 1 and Zone 2) environments and can be oil, air or water cooled and can be sealed up to IP65 if the environment dictates with purge and pressure systems and heat exchangers incorporated if required

The main markets served by Powerstax include high-end industrial, defence, vehicle and transportation, defence and avionics, impressed current cathodic protection, water treatment, test, measurement and control and medical equipment.
